All thru my growing up years i have always idiolized Andre Agassi....the earliest memory i have of him is when I saw him play the french open final against Jim Courier..i think that was in 91-92....then i had also heard that he had won the US open in 89...but i didnt see him then....I saw the french open final in which he lost to Courier..I saw that match from the hotel room as v were in manali then....on a holiday...(one of our few family holidays)..... I was so much overawed by him...the way he behaved ..the way he played...... I started watching tennis because of him.......I learned the rules of the game while watching him play.....his interviews were as exciting as his game..... I saw him win the wimbeldon final.....i was overjoyed...i was thrilled when i saw him win....when he cried after winning...he lay on the ground......I remember that day as if it happened yesterday(itz really strange how i remember it coz i think i have a terrible memory)
I followed every detail of his high profile affair with Brooke Shields...his marriage....his break off........ Agassi slumped in his career and then he came bac roaring back...in a new avataar....it was so inspiring to see him play challenger tournaments coz he didnt wanted to get into top level tournaments as wild card entrant.......he came bac to occupy the top position again...and win numerous other grand slams........he is one of the few players who won all 4 grandslam tournaments.......His marriage with Steffi Graf has been a fairytale....and he is been the cynosure of all eyes..... All these years Andre has had such a cleen image.....this guy has matured like wine....even at the ripe age of 35...he still holds his own against all top players......he saw the rise and fall of so many players.....but Andre has been there like a rock....whenever he was dubbed as history by critics Andre struck back....proving everyone wrong.... Andre Agassi....u been an inspiration...u truly a legend of sport..i salute u Sir.
