Dear Mausam,
Last night I had a chance to visit a party which was organised by South Asians of the region. They have this association where south asians get together and do stuff for the society and socialise (something similar to the Lions and Rotary Clubs of India)
Most of the crowd in there was comprised of IT professionals and I was told that "this is a good place to hunt for a job", well it was'nt all that great for me as I really do'nt want an IT job. Why don't I want an IT job?
well let me see, umm I think the foremost reason would be, My continous failure at getting myself equipped with the skills of the computer field. (Few weeks back I and Narry were counting all the computer courses that I enrolled in but never completed. You don't wanna know the number!)
The other reasons stem from the reason stated above, I am disinterested in anything related to computers. I just can't go through an embarrassing interview session for a post of an IT professional.
If ever I opt for a computer job then I will only manage to do task A to Task B, I cannot think beyond it! Even the thought of an IT job freaks me out.
I am good at interacting with people. I want a job where I converse with people.
Then why am i trying to push myself towards an IT job?(or getting pushed by people around) well itz all about the money honey!
The other day Ishpreet told me that if I was a ".net" professional she can easily get me a job worth 100,ooo$/year. Even at the last night party, a guy was ready to offer a job worth 150,000 if I was a master in Java!
Lets see how long i carry on contemplating like this.
At last night's party, I was completely out of place and lost (I carried an expression which said "I am not interested in talking to you people and I am low on self confidence"). The only solace was that the DJ was playing good music, towards the end of the party "we" decided to dance for a while.(By "we" I meant the others, I was ready to dance the moment I came into the party!) I was on the dance floor with my bro and his buddies. An IT professional came up to me and asked "where did you learn to dance?", Only an IT professional can ask such a question. I could'nt think of an answer does'nt he understand that I am a punjabi, you idiot, and dancing is in my blood.
Regards,
Ajj Kaim
